Customer Reviews
Great photographs, easy to use, no problems
I got my Z115 in August 1997 in preparation for a monthlong stay in Germany. The thought of lugging my old Minolta SR-T 101, a big and heavy 28-200 zoom, and a separate flash attachment really put me off. The Z115 proved to be a fine alternative, doing pretty much everything I needed it to do, and doing it easily and without much weight or bulk.
I do not use the many settings the Z115 offers, I pretty much stick with the "Auto" mode. I do play with the various flash settings (always on, always off, etc.)
I am frankly surprised (and disappointed) to hear of the reliability problems others have had. All I can say is that I have not had those problems with my use; the camera has worked flawlessly. It's now five years old and going strong. I will keep my fingers crossed that it stays that way.
Problems Galore
Like many of the other reviewers, I too have had numerous problems with this camera. The first one I owned had to be returned after only 3 months due to a problem with the zoom lens having trouble retracting in addition to the lens cover not closing in some cases. The second camera has the same problem, this time, the camera lasted about 8 months. My suggestion, keep this camera away from any humidity or moisture. That seems to create the problem. Don't even think about taking pictures on a rainy day, even with an umbrella!
It is so unfortunate, since this camera takes such great pictures.....
A SureShot for the camera....not the company!!
I purchased my camera in early 1997. I have the most beautiful pictures that were taken with the Canon z115. The only problem I had, was with the zoom. After 4.5 years of pictures, the zoom went out on it. The company was very difficult to deal with, they never offered any helpful advice, which is such a dissapointment considering all the photos I have taken with their camera. I think that if Canon had better customer service and offered a little more help it would be a FIVE STAR camera.
