Excellent Zheng Music5
Excellent recording and the quality is also excellent. This is the best so far for zheng music. There are so many different schools for the zheng and this is one of them in the Hakka style. Most of the recording are solo showing great dexterity and skill in playing this wonderful musical instrument. Also in other tracks there are other musical instruments accompanying the zheng like the gao hu (high pitched two stringed fiddle) and di-zi (transversal flute) creating a harmonious tones which I found very good and most of the time being the music is relaxing. While for track 4 and track 12 the di-zi is replaced what sounds like the xiao (vertical bamboo-notched flute) giving it the mellow tones creating and more heavenly and birdly effect to the whole composition. The very last track, track 15 contains sheng (Chinese mouth organ) sounds like a harmonica blending it's tune with the flute and the fiddle.

Most of the solo tracks are pretty good because, they are different compositions in which the sounds and pitches are regulated with the fingers showing different tensions creating wonderful sounds from the lowest pitch to the highest which sounds like the ringing of a bell. Some tracks are very slow while others like track 13 and 14 are very catchy tunes that sounds really enjoyable and delightful to the ear.

I enjoyed this cd very much because, the music that was recorded into this cd is very careful choosen for the listener to enjoy. I found it great for relaxation and also great for meditation as well. I recommend this music for those who are looking for something very different in Chinese music. I know there are a lot of zheng recordings on cd out there and is has to be one of the best one I have heard so far.

Themed Parties, Bruce Lee, or just a love for the music...4
This is a slower instrumental eastern sound. It kind of sets me at peace when I hear it. I have many Japanese rock and Taiwanese rock CD's, and it is quite nice to hear a mellow brook, or at least the artists depiction of one, instead of the torture of guitar strings (as my father puts it) I would definatly give this a 5 star if it wasn't a cut out.
