Great compositions, great players. Carter took a cast of mostly unknown Brazilian musicians, put them in a studio, and came away with a mostly well-balanced recording that captures some hard-bop jazz colred by a "world music" coloring that you might not expect from a guy who's played with everyone from Coltrane to Davis to Hancock. Standout player: PAULINHO DA COSTA (percussion). Great playing.
