Customer Reviews

Great product if it only worked.1
I bought this about 2 years ago to detect a leak from my water heater. Well, today I noticed wet carpet outside the closet where the water heater is but no alarm had gone off. I pressed the test button and it went off as expected. I then set the sensor in a pool of water and nothing. I Replaced the battery and tried again. Nothing. So the product doesn't do the one thing it's designed to do. Look elsewhere.

Good Idea - Awful quality!1
We got one of these for the basement after our humidifier occasionally leaked all over the floor (about 6 months ago). I'd test it regularly and replaced the battery at least once. Recently, my wife called me at work to say the washer had leaked some water on the floor. When I asked her if the alarm went off (it was located very near the washer and on a downgrade from the washer toward the floor drain), she said it was wet but hadn't alarmed. Later, I replaced the battery and neither water nor the test button generated any alarm. Great idea, but useless if the mean time to failure is so much shorter than that for the devices whose failures you're trying to detect...

Sonin 700 Water Alarm - failed in first month1
I purchased the Sonin 700 last month. Before I started using the unit, I tested it and it correctly sounded the siren. This month I tested it again and the siren now emits a weak and useless clicking sound (even after replacing the battery). My take - beware the Sonin 700 is 'false security'.
