Product Description

Reading, writing, and raising the dead...that's what high school's all about in this lightning and hormones horror-comedy. Frank Stein (Mathew Lawrence), a genius nerd, wants to be with the in crowd and get Macy (Christine Lakin), the cutest girl in school. He gets his shot when popular jocks Lance (Justin Walker), and Tuttle (Christine Payne) haze Karl (Ryan Reynolds), the school Goth outcast, to death, literally. Frank offers to bring Karl back to life in his home lab using a brain from his Dad's (Judge Reinhold) research project. The resurrection is a success, and Karl is back and ready TO PARTY! Now Frank and Karl are on the A-list and part of the in-crowd when things start to unravel. Unbeknownst to Frank, he has reanimated Karl with the brain of a mass murderer. The new Karl is cool, foxy, and deadly. Boltneck, in the tradition of hit teen screams "I Know What You Did Last Summer" and the upcoming Warner Bros. release "The In Crowd" stars a hip young cast and promises to keep you on the edge of your seat.

WHERE'S THE BOLT?3
Obviously aimed at a teen market, BOLTNECK is a diverting, unremarkable film loosely based on the Frankenstein legend. Matthew Lawrence stars as the genius who wants to bring something back to life. He gets his chance when two jocks accidentally kill a nerd (delightfully played by Ryan Reynolds). Lawrence rejuvenates him but unknowingly uses the brain of a recently killed murderer/robber. The new Reynolds is cool, and an asskicker. Meanwhile, Lawrence has fallen for the demure Macy (a lovely Christine Lakin), and he wants to win her over, in spite of his creation.
Shelley Duvall and Judge Reinhold as Lawrence's parents are awful, but they aren't really that integral to the movie. What little effects there are won't make you forget Terminator, but it's a pleasant and harmless little movie.

Nice little gem...4
This film is a nice if unimposing blend of Beetlejuice & Fast Times at Ridgemont High. It has a good pace, fine timing, & excellent performances (especially by Ryan Reynolds as the "monster"). A nice serendipitous experience.
