This dimmer switch can be used for more than lamps!
I used this switch for a electrical floor pad (90 watts) to provide heat under my feet while I'm at the computer. It was a little difficult to install since the cord was larger than the normal lamp cord, but the pad no longer burns my stocking feet. I used to have to keep turning it on and off. No more!

Lamp Cord Dimmer Switch
Easy to install, well-made with solid screw post connections, not the less-safe type that pierces the lamp cord insulation. This dimmer functions very well with a click-to-off position so you are sure it is turned off. It is a bit larger and bulkier than I had expected, but a welcome replacement for the small cheap in-line switch that came with the lamp. Worth the price!

Could use push on and off
A nice product. A couple of ways it could be better:

1) Smaller. It's a bit large
2) Push on/off. You have to turn the rotary knob all the way to click it off, which of course changes the dim setting. A push on/off would making it easier to turn it on and off and let you keep the dim level. If you can plug the cord into a switched outlet, this isn't an issue.

But don't let this stop you from getting it. It's very handy. The internal clamp-type wire hold-downs - instead of a screw that the wire wraps around - are excellent.
