For the Canon PowerShot G1 - Nice case!
This case is designed for use with the Canon PowerShot G1. It's similiar to standard SLR leather cases in which the case is made of up two parts:
- The bottom half which screws into the G1's tripod mount and "wraps" the camera body. You leave this on at all times, except for when you need to change the battery, swap CompactFlash cards, etc. - The top half which snaps into the bottom half. You remove the top half to take attach other lenses, an external flash, and of course take pictures.
There are plenty of buttons on the back of the G1 body, however the bottom half of the case (the part that you leave on while shooting) does not obstruct them.
My only complaint about the PSC-1000 case is that the top portion is not large enough to accomidate the LA-DC58 Lens Adapter for the G1, a popular accessory.
Wrong Case
I purchased this case because it was listed as an accessory for the Canon G2. Unfortunately, it doesn't fit the G2, but rather the G1. Don't buy this case for a G2 - you need the PSC-2000!
Restrictively useful
Well maybe it was my fault that I thought this case is going to be a complete camera bag which will hold, not only my camera but also the innumerable cords and wires that come with it. I was kind of hoping for space to keep the wires, the wireless controller, the battery-pack cover and a couple of flash card boxes. As it turned out I was rather disappointed that it just covered the camera to a perfect fit and didn't leave space for anything else. Not having been able to see the product rates probably top among the disadvantages of shopping on the internet. Otherwise the case itself is quite nice, it fits the camera and just the top needs to be opened to operate any of the features including the charger and the USB cords.
I haven't felt the other disadvantage of it yet as I haven't bought a lens adapter yet. They really should have taken care of the fact that lots of users of the G1 would want to fit in a lens adapter and use, if not the wide angle or tele lenses, atleast an UV filter.
Its ok but it certainly is not value for money... not worth (price)IMO.
