Not what it seems
This is actually a reissue of an old 60s LP from the Little
Singers of Tokyo (something to that effect). I know this because
I recognized the cuts. Basically you have 19 songs performed by
a children's choir who are singing to a westernized aesthetic.
In other words, the harmories are often very western sounding,
not eastern. It does have a recording of the very famous children's
song Shojoji and others like it. Accompanying the choir is a
single piano player. Sound is pretty good, but not hi-fi, and
the piano sounds like it's far away. However, this is
a rare Japanese LP that has made it's way to CD format without
the usual outrageous Japanese import price, and should appeal to
some, but not all listeners.
Yitsumi Yobi
I found this Japanese volcal album to be a pleasant surprise from the previous ones I have heard. Instead of muffled groans and moans, like in most of the traditional Japanese songs I have heard, this album was crisp clear and beautiful. I sugest this to people who enjoy classical music and or childrens choir. Its a beautifuly composed cd and I am glad I have found it.
a very sweet cd
I thought this was a very nice CD -- the children's voices are so pure and sweet.
