This is Serious!5
This is truly a delightful collection. Some Woody Guthrie folk staples such as the classic "This Land is Your Land" (which I always thought would be the ideal national anthem) as well as a good mix of other creations makes this one unique.

The pre-Beatle early 1960s were best defined by the wonderful protest songs; songs of social injustices and the issues that resound to this day. The Kingston Trio, in addition to being just a damn good folk trio also had a wonderful sense of humor, as evidenced in the song, "M.T.A." The songs play the emotional range, from the very sad "500 Miles" (might make you cry), "Reuben James," "Scarlet Ribbons" and "Lemon Tree," which helped make them household names to the very cheery "Greenback Dollar" and "M.T.A." as well as many of the songs on this collection.

If you think these folk masterpieces sounded good on vinyl (and they DO), just listen to how clear, crisp and sharp they sound on CD! You are in for a listening treat. I'll pray for something like this to come along again - as for folk, it is deeply intwined in our consciousnesses; our history and our lives. Folk, which is a musical version of story telling is an excellent unifier - it brings people together. From its early days during the Depression where union workers sang of their rights to the 1960s demonstrations to the world we have today, folk has been a multicolored common thread that has kept the world listening.

Great stuff from the Kingston Trio!5
If you longed for some wonderful music from the Kingston Trio then you will enjoy this compilation. They are known for their other hits "Tom Dooley", 'Worried Man", "M.T.A". The selections are first rate. Personal favorite.."Jug of Punch". You'll enjoy them all!!

Make Way for Kingston Trio Goin' Places4
A combination of one fair album by my favorite group with one of their better ones. "Make Way" has none of their more outstanding efforts, although "Blow The Candle Out" is good.
"Goin' Places" has several of their best: "Coast of California" and "It Was A Very Good Year" (long before Sinatra) are both superb.
If you are a KT fan, this is a good buy. If not see some of the other collections.
