Bach:Organ Music (Trio Sonatas)
I have listened to many recordings of these masterpieces. This I like most thanks to the playing, organ sound & recording quality.
In these works there are no chords as such, no mere stacking of notes vertically on the stave here. The Trio Sonatas are instead, perfect examples of the interweaving of melodic strands.
With the exception of other Bach works, I know of no other music so well crafted, animated & intriguing.
No doubt this is due to changes in musical fashion or simply becuase there have been no composers in the last 250 years with Bach's contrapuntal skills or imagination.
it doesn't get better than this
Bach played so clearly and joyously on perhaps the best organ i've heard on audio and the recording quality is stunningly clear. every musician should have this recording. anyone who says they don't care for the organ should listen to this recording. no words could describe the perfection of the cd. and to think it is so cheap. equally as incredible is john butt's toccata cd. nobody plays this clear and musically and so even and effortlessly on the planet today, maybe with exception of the new prodigy (now 27) paul jacobs, but it truly doesn't get better than this, with not only organ music but ALL music. a must for every musician. john butt is a true master.
