Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover
It's high-caliber action from start to finish when Wellman Santee (Dolph Lundgren) goes gunning for his money and running for his life after his partner is killed during a botched heist. Sensational stunts and spectacular special effects push the action to the limit as he captures a beautiful hostage (Kristian Alfonso) and takes off across the desert in a high-speed race for his life. Six thousand square miles of sand and dozens for turbo-charged super cars set the stage for a bloody, bullet-riddled showdown with a ruthless killer. A high-velocity tale of blood and guts, ARMY OF ONE is a pedal-to-the- metal action at its best.

Customer Reviews

One of Lundgren's better movies4
I thought this was a good entertaining movie. I wish there was more hand to hand combat, since Lundgren is specialized, but overall it was good. I got double my money's worth. Non stop action. George Segal was excellent as well as a corrupt cop.

DVD MUTILATION OF EXCELLENT FILM1
I first saw Joshua Tree back in 1994. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the film was as Dolph was still a newbie to me then. He's pretty good in his role but is acted off the screen by George Segal who has as fun playing the villian than any other actor in a movie. What he brings to Joshua Tree is class. Not that it needed any.

Vic Armstrong is one of the top Hollywood guys when it comes to stunts. If there's one guy who knows how to blow something up or throw someone off a building best...it's Vic Armstrong. You can tell he loved making this movie when it comes to that breath-taking shootout in the desert warehouse. Wow! This stuff is better than John Woo.

But I don't think you should buy the DVD. Not this one at least. I'd take the advice of the reviewers below and wait for a more definative version to be released. To show a 2.35:1 film in 1.33:1 is a mutilation. Seriously. But this DVD runs at the uncut 106 not 102 like the cover says.

If you are a big fan of Joshua Tree (and it's understandable how you can be) I'd buy this DVD just to see how the picture and sound quality differs from the VHS. Even the current sound is in Dolby Surround so all those gunshots and the awesome musical score get terrible justice.

I hope and pray Artisan wise-up, scrap this version and release the widescreen version soon.

It would get 5/5 normally but in fullscreen and in Dolby Surround I'm afraid I can only give it 1/5.

FULLSCREEN SHOULD BE ILLEGAL ON DVD1
Normally I would reccomend this DVD to you. But only in widescreen. Artisan have butchered an excellent action film. Leave this edition be.
