Relaxing and Engaging
Nicole's talent reaches back through the ages as much as it sets an example for the music of the future. Today's stress-filled world is overwhelmed by the 'more is better' philosophy, but she has chosen not to walk that path. Instead, her music subtly weaves patterns that ever-so-gently engage all the senses.
Influenced by her father, Paul LaRoche of Brule? Perhaps. There are similarities in the way that her flute soars along age-old paths connecting music and our intellectual, emotional and physical patterns. Truly, Paul and Nicole are masters of a very ancient art. So skillful are their compositions, so breathtaking is their understanding of the human soul that their creations not only engage the senses but may manipulate them as well.
Nicole's style is not her father's however; Brule's unique melodies are supported by a more 'masculine' or 'earthy' foundation of traditional Native American music. Nicole is pure flight.
Highly recommended listening for long commutes in city traffic, quiet nights at home or last-minute changes to a project with a looming deadline...anywhere you would like to create a peaceful space.
A Wonderful Find In Northern Wisconsin
Recently my wife and I happened to catch Brule' at the Applefest celebration in Bayfield, WI. After buying a couple of their CDs on-site, we were very pleased to find their music almost a good on CD as live. You need to see them live to really appreciate their sound. I took a chance on Nicole's two CDs. I was not been disappointed. I have it on as background music at work (when I can be in my office) along with Star People by Brule' and Night Tree by Nicole. I highly recommend any of these three CDs. Prior to these CDs, I thought all Native American songs and CDs were chantings and shrill bone whistle and flute music.
Uplifiting and Wonderful
I saw Nicole at the Edina Art Fair in MN. I immediately fell in love with her music and the music of the band Brule (check Brule out as well, she is a flutist for that band). The CD is calming and you feel like flying after you listen to it. I urge everyone to buy this music, she is an awesome flutist and her Native American roots enrich her music with a spirit that I have only seen once in this world, in her.
