If you demand uncompromising quality and unrivaled performance, you need the flagship veloCD 24/10/40, the world's first 24X CD burner.True to the TDK heritage of digital audio excellence, the 24/10/40 veloCD burner sets a new record with bit-perfect 40X digital audio extraction. Ripping audio with a typical CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive is often slow and inaccurate, and the process often contaminates files with audible clicks and pops. The veloCD 24/10/40 delivers a clean, pop-free rip every time. With 40X ripping and 24X writing, the veloCD burner is so fast it may be the only drive you need. For CD-to-CD-R recording, it's a one-drive alternative that's better sounding and takes less than half the time of most two-drive setups. The 24X veloCD lets you burn while running multiple applications. With BURN-Proof write assurance technology, buffer underrun errors are eliminated. You're free to burn CDs while you surf the Web, download music or print a document. With the 24X veloCD, you're assured of perfect CDs every time - no failed sessions, no CD coasters. TDK makes CD rewriting faster and more convenient. The 24/10/40 veloCD combines the advanced functionality of 10X rewriting with the convenience of drag-and-drop recording.

Customer Reviews
Easy to set-up; Easy to use
Instructions for setting up were a bit overdone and did not need that much explanation; most of us just need to take out the old CDROM and slide this one in and plug it to the cable inside. No issues and it fit just fine. VERY EASY
Ease of use is amazing. Once loaded, I burned a CD-R very quickly on my system which is P233 (old!); faster systems should be faster. The buffering on this system is very good. I understand that it compensates for the mass memory and system resources taxing in and alleviates any mistakes. I was POd that after 5 CD-Rs successfully done, the next one had a skip in it - BUT IT WAS THE SONG! Whew, this CD-RW is tops. I have made at least 50 CD-Rs and 2-3 CD-RWs (more taxing on the system and slower) with not one problem. Don't make too many CD-RWs if you have an older system - it takes hours. And CD-Rs are so much cheaper these days. But I like having the ability to do it IF I have to.
* Includes a video that I've never watched, but beginners may want to. Again, the cable that connected to the old CDROM was just pulled out and connected to this CD-RW/R, screwed in, then the PC case set back on and it was awesome.
* Software bundle is good too. The choices to go for Audio, Data, or something else is very wizard friendly. Also, the drag and drop of files is easy and you can preview your songs as well as rearrange them in any order you want them to be on the CD you are making. It comes with a version of INCD which I'm not so sure what it does. It loads when my PC boots, but I don't exactly know what it does if any; but I did have the option to install at the beginning and I chose - yes. Maybe the video will explain.
* If you're worried about the cost - I was. It had a (...)rebate but I paid more than what others were going for. After a review in some tech article - I chose this one with the intention of returning it if my system crashed (I have an old one). Well, I still have it and the music is sounding excellent. STRONG BUY.
ideal burner
i just wrote a review about a crappy cd player i bought so im to tired to go into detail but this tdk burner is THE BEST. nothing compares to it. the software that comes with it is pretty good you can make all kinds of cd's with nero. if you have easy cd creator 5.0 platinum and it doesnt work with it than you can download an upgrade on the roxio site. the speed of this burner is incredible however, if you have a celeron processor, or 64 mb of ram it wont work at full speed. there is no better burner than this one, it has buffer protection that protects the cd's so they rarely fail. i bought mine at costco for a hundred and thirty five and it came with a twenty dollar rebate but if you dont live by a costco you can still get it cheaper at best buy or circuit city... im telling you that you will never find anyhting better than this or at least not in the near future.
A Very Nice Burner
I got this burner for Christmas and have been burning MP3s and compilations of my favorite music like crazy. It's also a really nice thing to have when someone you know has a CD you were thinking of buying; that way you can just burn it onto your blank CD-R or CD-RW and save yourself some money. This burner is also really fast in recording (even if you only have one CD driver). It can burn up to 40x in speed! My computer isn't slow but its also not very fast. I have to burn things at 12x but even on that speed it's incredibly fast. Another nice thing about this specific model is that it comes with a easy to understand manual as well as a tape that goes into careful detail explaining to beginners how to use the product. Its actually really easy to use once you figure it out but for first-timers like me it can be a bit confusing. I'd say the entire process of putting all the songs into mp3 or wav format and then actually writing it, it takes about 20 minutes tops - and that's pretty fast. Some burners take up to an hour, but not with TDK's veloCD 24x10x40. The installation is also really easy to set up and the software is completely durable. I haven't had a single problem yet. WAIT! I take that back. I had a problem burning a CD once because of the song (not the device) and the CD drive refused to open. Luckily there's a little needle that you can stick through this tiny hole beneath the CD opener that automatically solves the problem. I didn't even have to call tech-support to get help. So overall this burner has its faults (like all things) but its pretty reliable in my book. I seldom have to worry about a problem arising. And if something does happen it's most likely the songs fault.
