Somewhere into the so-so "Itsy Bitsy Spider" segment, the sinking feeling that Kids' Favorite Songs 2 is strictly sequel material sets in. This is a march down Sesame Street on a slow day, when the loopy monster misunderstandings and goofball gags miss a rare beat or two. Still, making merry is what the Sesame crew does best, and they succeed here, if on a less brilliant level than we've come to expect. All the usual favorites, like "If You're Happy and You Know It" and "The Ants Go Marching," get the gang and their real-life kid friends grooving, and a running joke involving a renegade meatball keeps kids 18 months to 5 tuned in to the end. Elmo hosts. --Tammy La Gorce

Too much talking - not enough singing
This Sesame Street DVD is kind of disappointing. We purchased for my 15-month old daugher. She loves the Kids Favorite Songs 1, so we figured she would enjoy this one too. Turns out that this one spends 1/3 of the time interviewing the kids so find out what they think things mean. Example: When they sing the song "The Bear Went Over the Mountain", they spend 2 minutes asking the kids where they think he went. When they say the Nursery Rhyme "Mary, Mary Quite Contrary", they get some weird answers about what the kids think "Cockshells" are.
They have some of the kids put a tune to some of the nursery rhymes on here that I am not even sure were meant to be sung to any tune in particular....it kind of just ends of hurting your ears.
When they do get around to singing, it is actually ok. "The Bear Went Over the Mountain," and "The Wheels on the Bus," are pretty good.
A lot of this video is just spent with kids poking at each other and acting silly/goofy at their own answers. I probably wouldn't purchase it again.
Best investment I have made in the past 15 months!
I can honestly say this is the very best investment I could have made. And, if I would have known it sooner I would have bought it months ago and paid 10 times what I paid for this!
My son is a rather busy child and is into everything and always underneath of me. He is always where I am and never does a thing by himself. Pop this video in and he's gone. He screams when the video starts and gets his spot in front of the tv and starts dancing. The reason I do think he's in love with this video is because Elmo "interviews" actual children and asks what their favorite song is. Then the children either talk about it or sing the song and my son loves kids so he's glued to the tv. We have quite a collection of Sesame videos but this is by far his favorite. I bought the kids favorite songs 1 today and will see if he loves this as much. The tunes are regular nursery rhymes and my husband and I are always singing these at any given moment because we've watched it a hundred times!
This is soo worth it for the free time we get and the ear to ear grin my son has when it's on.
Go buy this video TODAY!!!
My 17 month old daughter ADORES this video. Not only does my little one love to dance around and sing to the video but this video has taught her how to do the movements for "Itsy Bitsy Spider", "The Wheels on the Bus", "If you're happy and you know it..." and "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star". Also, she can now decipher up from down (because of the song "The Brave ole' Captiain Brown") I am a Kindergarten teacher and this video truely gives toddlers a good foundation to the basics of education. Of course nothing can replace the value of a parent reading to their child, but this video is a MUST HAVE for all parents of toddlers!
