Phenomenal
This movie was phenomenal. Originally I rented it because I wanted to see all the movies that my favorite actress, Erika Alexander, had been in after I saw her in 30 to Life, along with the usual t.v. shows, etc. I had no idea what this movie was about but I was glued to my television the entire time and ended up returning the movie on the very last day it was due, and I'm so quick to return movies the next day. I bought the movie the next day! I don't understand why the pigeon/birthday scene was repeated twice, but other than that, I loved this movie!
mama flora's family
Mama Flora's Family is a really good movie Erika Alexanders character get'spregnant by Shemar Moore's character who like to sleep with women and leaves them. After she has the baby he keeps the baby since he is the slave owners son, she has no choice but to stay out of his life. So she goes on with her life and has more kids and not a day goes by that she doesn't think about the son she left behind. But the ending is really good. It has a very happy ending. All the actors were really good, especially Cicely Tyson, Erika Alexander, Shemar Moore, and Queen Latifah to name a few. well thanks for taking the time to read this review. jtk504
Excellent Movie!
I must have cried or come close watching this movie about a dozen times. This is a great movie about a strong lady who has survived so many upheavals in her life as a poor black woman who never loses her sense of self worth or the importance of integrity. Cicely Tyson is wonderful as always, and Erika Alexander has the ability to act well without saying a word as the young Flora. It takes a great actress to speak with her eyes the way Alexander did!
A wonderful mixture of heartbreak, warmth, and hope fuel this story along, and Queen Latifah also proves herself to be one heck of an actress. I dare you to sit down and watch this wonderful movie that approaches individual accountability the right way without crying and smiling a lot. It's a rich story anybody can learn a lot from about making mistakes and taking steps to correct them.
