Best of the Best
Stings the nostalgic eye to tears, and the nostalgic ear to hard memory. Great stuff. I was young then when Super Mazembe were at their peak, but the way my brothers (fresh from the Liberation War in Zimbabwe) danced to these tunes will always playback in my mind when I listen to the monumental basslines, the passionate vocals and the inter-twining guiter rifts. This is for those who like the slow sentimental African rhumba (with flourishing horns, etc ) as well as the fast benga sounds!! You won't go wrong if you buy this one and others from Les Wanyika, Simba Wanyika, etc. Don't worry if you do not understand the language (I read the sleeve translations just to make sense of it all) but I have always been moved by the instruments more than by the lyrics, that's why I also like Dub. Peace!
Exellent of yester years
Unlike in the past the style used by the fourth generation both the middle aged and younger generation of musicians. The up-tempo beat which incorporates more of the techno-beats appears to have taken over the minds of most Lingala music fans.Super Mazembe is the best in East Africa and still playing its role.
Nostalgic, One of the Greatest Ever !!!
This is the music that takes me back in time to the early 80s when I was only a kid. Listening to it reminds me of the great music that African Artists used to make. This is definately one of the greatest bands ever. If you like Fela, Salif Keita, Masekele, Franco and Papa Wemba, you will definately like this.
I love it !!!
I'm from Zimbabwe and I don't understand a word they are saying :-)
