Product Description

Kindhearted lawyer Glenda's (Goldie Hawn) desire to lend a helping hand is evident in the number of stray dogs she has taken in. Her husband Ira (Charles Grodin) is a stuffy district attorney with designs on political office. When her ex-husband Nick (Chevy Chase), a writer who has been forced to rob a bank, shows up on her doorstep seeking refuge from the authorities, she takes him in--spurring a serious of painfully comedic situations as she attempts to keep him hidden from uptight Ira. Razor sharp timing from a trio of comedic heavyweights propels this descendent of 1930s screwball romantic comedies from Neil Simon.

An original Neil Simon screenplay makes Seems Like Old Times rise above what would otherwise be a forgettable comedy love triangle. Goldie Hawn (Private Benjamin) plays a good-hearted defense lawyer married to Ira, a politically ambitious district attorney played by Charles Grodin (Midnight Run). The craziness of their everyday lives becomes even more ridiculous when ex-husband Chevy Chase is framed for a bank robbery and seeks refuge with the woman he could never get over. Hawn hides the love of her life under her husband's nose as Chase tries to clear his name. Hawn tries to protect him and Grodin just tries to keep from going insane. A slapstick romance that's very often hit-and-miss, the dialogue saves this comic farce and provides wonderful moments between the three stars. Seems Like Old Times also has going for it winning supporting players and some half a dozen drooling, unruly dogs. --Robert Lane

Customer Reviews

If these are old times, more of them please!5
Seems Like Old Time is still one of my all time favorite films. This film is almost too funny for its own good. A terrific throwback to the sophisticated comedies of the 30's and 40's updated for the 80's. It's too bad that they just don't make these kinds of comedies anymore. Goldie is in top form, Charles Grodin is so dry and wonderful and Chevy Chase should've never moved beyond this type of film. He and Hawn made magic before in Foul Play and it was great to see them together again. Buy it! Oh and keep any eye out for Aurora, the Parks' housekeeper and her infamous Chicken Pepperoni, no one can get enough of it.

This is easily my family's favorite movie!!5
If you appreciate the humor and ease of Chevy Chase and Goldie Hawn, you will love this movie. Charles Grodin does a fantastic job of playing the upstanding yet jealous husband in this entertaining romance. This movie has lifted my spirits, as well as my mothers and sisters, since it's release in the 80's.
