Classic Synth Pop album!
Most people know Soft Cell for Tainted Love but they had so many more songs that were just as good if not better than Tainted Love. Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret is the classic synth pop/new wave album Tainted Love comes off of but the album contains such cult hits as Sex Dwarf (my favorite as I heard it thousands of times on LIVE 105 in San Francisco in the 80's and into the 90's), Seedy Films which was recently remade by the DMX Krew (they did a really upbeat version while the whole Electroclash sound was happening), Bedsitter and Say Hello Wave Goodbye. Of course this album also contains the extended version of Tainted Love with Where Did Our Love Go. An excellent version worth listening to over and over again. I think this album is underrated given the fact that Tainted Love has been such a HUGE hit the rest of the tracks on here should be given the same praise as Tainted Love has. Excellent release and worth owning and adding to any 80's collection.

Best synth-pop album ever made? Seedy, addictive, BRILLIANT!
Bottom line: Apart from THE HUMAN LEAGUE's DARE or maybe SCRITTI POLITTI's CUPID & PYSCHE 85, SOFT CELL'S NON-STOP could be THE best synth-pop albums of all time, not to mention one of the best albums in any genre! It's one of the few full-length albums I revisit over & over, never tiring of it. Not surprisingly, I listened to this NON-STOP when I first bought the LP as a young "impressionable" teen and spent many, many nights in my bedroom with headphones on or twirling around in my room - don't tell me you didn't do the same! Really one of the few 80s albums that doesn't date at all, still sounding as fresh and daring and ground-breaking as did it over two decades ago - NOT ONE BAD SONG IN THE BUNCH! FRUSTRATION kicks it off in fine, paranoid style, but aside from uber-hit-wonder TAINTED LOVE, who can forgot the pleasures of SEEDY FILMS, BEDSITTER, SECRET LIFE, CHIPS ON MY SHOULDER, ENTERTAIN ME, SAY HELLO...?! At once charmingly simple, yet deliciously complex, Marc Almond and Dave Ball have concocted a sexy, sly synth-pop masterpiece for the ages - and like all perfect albums, NON-STOP more than any other SOFT CELL LP takes you back to a very specific time, place, and context that won't ever be repeated quite the smae way again. While they never quite matched this debut, who can blame them? Like us, they're only mere mortals trying to find their way - and explore a few cheap thrills in the process. Still, don't miss later efforts like ART OF FALLING APART and SOUL INSIDE for further brilliance, although a bit more spotty and, like all great things, the law of diminishing returns.

Soft Cell is so much more than Tainted Love...
Almond, the singer, is a drama queen, an insatiable sexual creature, a passionate philosopher of the seedier side of life, and a human wrought with angst. That combination is masterfully portrayed in this brutally honest exposure of himself.

What makes Soft Cell so utterly unique is the aforementioned complemented with their poppy, synth-rock sound. Sure, "Tainted Love" is a great song, (especially the bonus track #11 of "Tainted Love/Where Did Our Love Go" mix); however, Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret is so much more than that song. I'm extremely fond of the song "Frustration." It most certainly sets the tone for the rest of the CD. Let me not forget the darkness of "Sex Dwarf;" although I smile during this song, there is a uncomfortable element to it as well.

I would have to include Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret in a top album of all time list.

Soft Cell aptly demonstrates that synth-rock can have depth and rawness.
