Album Description
The reigning queen of the new wave/electro revival, Miss Kittin's debut with partner-in-crime The Hacker, proves to be a Miss who is distinctive enough to take the 80's-influenced genre to innovative levels. Mixer Magazine has included the artist in their top wrap up of 2002. Includes the infamous X-rated single 'Frank Sinatra' plus '1982'.

Kittin, a former French pole dancer, and Hacker, a one-time hardcore headbanger, combine forces in a decidedly sleazy niche, but it does make for disarmingly catchy music. Its simple New Wave synth beats and Kittin's (a.k.a. Caroline Herve) deadpan delivery make it easy to imagine you're lounging in a Eurotrash strip joint, circa 1977, as scantily clad dominatrixes torture willing customers. The 1997 single "Frank Sinatra" is more shocking for its spot-on electro atmospherics than for its lyrics, proving that Hacker's punk years were a valuable tutorial for success 2002-style. Throughout, Hacker spins weird little theramin squirms, horror halo tones, and chunky beatbox handclaps, while Kittin discourses about trading sex for cash ("Stock Exchange"), ambitious disco queens ("Nurse"), and, of course, the burlesque life ("Stripper"). First Album is really a one-song affair, but its alluring message is so kitschy, kinked, and campy, the song never sounds the same. --Ken Micallef
From URB Magazine
Few records since Lil' Louis' "French Kiss" have had the sheer erotic audacity as Miss Kittin and the Hacker's 1997 debut single, "Frank Sinatra." With the Hacker's dark electro beats and Miss Kittin's lyrical command to "suck my dick/lick my ass," the duo produced the dance floor equivalent of a dirty debutante stripping out of her diamond-studded ski suit and into a secluded Alps hot-tub with a man old enough to be her father.
That same euro-babe occupies each song of the duo's debut album. Whether spending bored hours engaged in the fashion onslaught of "Life On MTV" or "In my jet/Flying to Vienna Austria" after the close of the "Stock Exchange," this is a woman with enough bling for a thousand hip-hop videos, plus a few dozen James Bond movies. You can't help but believe that the former platform dancer, Miss Kittin, is actually living out her champagne wishes.
Musically, The Hacker provides syncopated new-wave beats with the timeless precision of a musical scholar. Styles range from the Moroder strut of "You and Us" to the robotnik beats of "Stripper," always exploring the dark side of unrestrained hedonism.
Of course, this record is perfect for DJ Hell's International Deejay Gigolos label and it's '80s-fixated cast of characters. While the nostalgic appeal might fade with the introduction of next years' Gucci shoes, sex and greed never really go out of style for very long, a fact that will benefit Miss Kittin and the Hacker when they release their second album.

dark 80's synth comes a clawin' with Miss Kittin
hey music freaks. well, if you're readin' this review, you are either interested in this cd or you already own this great album and you want to see what other folks wrote.
lemme tell ya, this minimalist techno album is fantastic. it will have memories of 80's music go screamin' through your brain. it reminds me a bit of Yaz with attitude...the dark half of yaz...the bitter, rough cornered, a bit ragged side of Yaz. Miss Kittin herself has a unorthodox voice that carries loads of "attitude" and plenty of tongue in cheek jabs. the pulsating synth music marches right out of the middle 80's, but it does so in a way that will sound new...it's really a fun cd to listen to. a buddy of mine let me hear a few tracks the other day, and i was hooked...i had to get this summer gem. trust me, one listen to this First Album, and you'll want to hear Miss Kittin's techno purr for a long time to come.
peace,

You're only at the tip of Miss Kittin's iceberg.....
I only gave 3 stars because she has better stuff. I'm a DJ. Trance, house, break beats. Love GOA. Love Infected Mushroom. Love Miss Kittin. This album is okay for her first outing (and the style is unique in that her newer stuff isn't as out-of-the-basement sounding). I agree that the differential among all the songs isn't that wide. But if you like it at all, GET SOME NEW KITTIN. She's badass!!! I Com and Or are both great, but her mixing / spinning is the best. Mixing Me and On The Road are 2 of the best cds i've ever heard. (When she DJ's, not all the tracks are by her, but she knows how to use them) Get them!
