from Fringe Video Fanzine Issue #0054
A black & white arthouse film in the style of the transgressionalists. Directors such as Nick Zedd [King of Sex (1986); Manhattan Love Suicides (1985)], or Richard Kern [Evil Cameraman (1990); Submit to Me Now (1987)] come to mind here. Disturbing and dark the film depicts the relationship between a sadistic killer [played by Rozz Williams] and his submissive victim [James Hollan]. The two slowly evolve into a world of body mutilation, nipple piercing, and homo-erotic fantasy until they finally become one. The subliminal's are very strong, and the dadist type Alejandro Jodorowsky [Holy Mountain (1973) / Santa Sangre (1989)] symbolism confused me as much as I was entertained. Very poetic and surreal the film captures a dismal mood and places the viewer too deep into the mind of madness. This underground short film by Nico B. filmed in Death Valley was the last project of "artistic genius" Rozz Williams, who was formerly known from the "gothic" rock group Christian Death. "...He was one of the pioneering artists in the musical sub-genre known as Death Rock, and he used that as a springboard to strike out in a multitude of directions: electronic music, spoken word, visual arts, and hard rock. An amazing collage artist. His book `The Art of Rozz Williams' can keep your mind exploring for hours. Included in this limited edition DVD is a 40 page reproduction of a book used in the film... `Why God Permits Evil'. Very Cool... , and shows that the company really cares about this film being re-released. Some Christian Death footage would have padded the disc out nicely, yet only releasing 1,334 copies was a great touch that TRUE fans will appreciate. Rozz called the film PIG (1998) "...a form of exorcism and transition of his personal demons..." Shortly after he took his own life by hanging.

S&M + Murder = Pig3
Being a fan of early Christian Death & The Shadow Project, I had to see the film for myself. Before I say anything about the visual part of the film I must say that the soundtrack is a great piece of ambient noise (5 Stars). The DVD extras contains a Rozz Williams memorial video set to one of his songs, which was a nice touch. There is also a small insert booklet of collage artwork by Rozz Williams and there are more images of his work in the DVD extras (5 Stars). So why 3 stars you ask, well the "movie" itself it seemed juvenile and if it didn't have the soundtrack to keep it moving along it wouldn't have gone anywhere. With that said, all fans of Rozz Williams should view and interpret the work for themselves.

Certainly odd, but worth a watch4
Well, Another reviewer covered the details of the film so I'll skip most of that..

This is definitely an odd little film. It's one that makes you think instead of telling you everything thats happening (really it doesnt tell you anything considering there are no spoken words). Its worth seeing at least once though I wouldnt say its the best of its kind.

Really what made the package worth having are 2 things, the "Why God Permits Evil" booklet of Rozz's artwork and the Memorial video to Rozz with the soundtrack of his song "Flowers" which I found very touching and thoughtful in paying respect to him and all his works.

With only 1334 copies made available it was a nice collectors touch while at the same time it does prevent alot of people from seeing one of Rozz's final projects (take a look at the used selling prices, lowest price at the time I'm writing this is $147.99, OUCH! - *glad I got my copy early!!*)

-extra note, I'm not sure if all copies are like this but mine came signed by Nico B.
