Amazon.com Product Description
Canon's Sure Shot Z155 combines a powerful 37-155mm (5.2x) zoom lens with simple point-and-shoot operation, making it a perfect choice for soccer parents, wildlife lovers, and anyone else seeking an easy-to-use camera for bringing distant shots up close.
The Z155 is clearly designed for people who want to point, shoot, and let the camera do the rest. Film loading, rewinding, and speed setting are all fully automatic, as are the flash, focus, and all other settings.
If you're feeling more adventurous, the Z155 has a mode dial that adjusts settings for best results in certain shooting situations that can trick a camera's sensors.
- Portrait focuses on the subject of your photo and blurs out the background.
- Night Scene uses the flash to illuminate items in the foreground and keeps the shutter open longer to ensure the background is also visible.
- Action keeps moving items in focus and uses a fast shutter speed to minimize blurring.
- Close-Up (also called "macro") focuses on small objects that are close to the lens.
- Spot sets the focus and exposure based on the item in the center of your shot--useful when a complex background could confuse the camera.
- Personal stores your favorite flash, focus, and exposure settings.
Additional features include a four-mode flash with red-eye reduction and a self-timer.
The camera uses standard 35mm film, and power is provided by a CR123A lithium battery.

And Canon's 3-point autofocus, ultra-precise auto exposure system, built-in Light Guide Zoom Flash and 7-mode Best Shot Dial give you the freedom to create.
The marvel is that Canon could deliver all this performance in a camera so compact and lightweight. This is a camera made for you. And you'll amaze yourself at what you can do with it.
Ready, Aim, Relax
The Sure Shot Z155 combines "big camera" performance with the comfort of a compact, lightweight design--so you get the great shots you want--stress-free. A big 4.2x zoom lens captures everything from intense 155mm telephoto close-ups to breathtaking 37mm wide-angles. Focusing is simplicity itself. The Passive 3-point AiAF autofocus system assures ultra-sharp, dazzlingly clear images across the full range of the camera's powerful lens. While at the same time, the sophisticated auto exposure metering system creates the optimal settings for your subject and light. All you do is press the button. Your pictures will tell the whole story--beautifully.
The auto exposure system assures perfect pictures even in difficult lighting conditions. By linking information from the 3-point autofocus, auto exposure and flash, it gives you precise, interlocked exposures instantly and automatically.
The Sure Shot Z155 is equipped with Passive 3-point Autofocus that precisely focuses on your subject whether it's centered or off-center, to give you a sharp, flawlessly clear image.
Turn, Turn, Turn for Your Best Shot
Life is full of picture-perfect moments and Canon's Best Shot Dial helps you make the most of them. Its seven shooting modes provide the pinpoint control to tackle even the most challenging situations effortlessly. And when you want even greater individuality, there's Personal Mode to set and save your own personal shooting preferences. It all makes picture-taking with the Sure Shot Z155 simple and intensely satisfying.
- Spot: Spot Mode concentrates focus and exposure on the center of the frame so your subject is pictureperfect.
- Personal: For more individualized control over focus and flash, Personal Mode lets you create and save a unique group of settings to use whenever you want them.
- Close-up: Reveal subtle patterns and textures from as close as approx. 1.5 ft. away. This mode automatically adjusts the focal length to capture the magic of small details.
- Auto: Most of the time Auto Mode is the setting you'll turn to. takes care of everything--exposure, flash and focus--so you can concentrate on creativity.
- Portrait: The camera automatically zooms to head and shoulders distance, at the same time artistically blurring the background to create a beautiful, stylish shot.
- Action: Capture your budding superstar's first moves. Action Mode automatically meters and focuses a moving subject.
- Night Scene: For inspired evening shots, choose Night Scene. It fires the Red-Eye Reduction Flash and slows the shutter to create bright subjects against softly glowing backgrounds.
Seize the Moment
The Sure Shot Z155's built-in Light Guide Zoom Flash lets you capture life's perfect moments even when there's little natural light. This sophisticated flash has five modes including Red-Eye Reduction to diminish the red eye effect. To handle tough backlighting automatically, there's Fill-In Flash. For more creative control, select Manual Exposure Compensation.
- Red-eye reduction: The Sure Shot Z155 uses an incandescent lamp to produce faces with a normal, clear-eyed expression--avoiding the red-eyed "monster" effect of ordinary flash images.
- Fill-in flash: The Z155 automatically calculates proper exposure and flash settings for shadowed or strongly backlit subjects so your pictures capture every detail--a child's shy smile or a baby's tiny fist--even when the light isn't perfect.
- Exposure compensation: Your creativity is unlimited. Simply override the Z155's automatic metering settings to achieve your desired effect. The +1.5 EV setting lightens your subject, while -1.5 EV darkens it.
Comfortable, Convenient, Clear
Every detail of the Sure Shot Z155 has been designed to make taking pictures easy. The large LCD panel shows you every function at a glance. The Best Shot Dial is within close reach. The Real-Image Zoom Viewfinder lets you compose your shot accurately. And the eyepiece, with its Dioptric Adjustment, adjusts from -2.5 through +0.5 to let you shoot with or without your prescription glasses.

Great Pictures For Any Skill Level
This camera is an excellent buy. It may cost a little more than other cameras, but it is worth the investment. It offers a variety of advanced features which you may or may not use immediatley, but it is also simple enough for the beginning photographer to use for that occasional snap shot.
We recently bought a puppy, and were upset to find that our old camera was broken. We bought this camera, and I can honestly say that I am glad my old one broke. I was amazed at the quality of the pictures that this camera produces. I turned the dial to "close up" mode and took a picture of my puppy's face. The detail is so amazing. You can actually see individual hairs. It was so simple. The only hard part was getting the dog to sit still!
This camera is worth the money. How often do you buy a camera? Splurge! You earned it! You will not be dissapointed.
Not so good
We got this camera based on the reviews and was a disappointment. Basically, this camera takes excellent pictures in full auto mode. When we tried other modes like portrait, picture quality was not good and flashed off-subject. The manual is not descriptive; e.g it refers to picture frame, close-up frame in the close-up section without really describing the viewfinder!
It is good that I returned it and bought Canon Rebel 2000. With the 50mm lens, it is lightweight and you can be more creative since you are in full control of each exposure. There again, Remember : DO NOT BUY THE KIT! The cheap consumer quality zoom lens(28-85mm) that comes with the kit produces worst pictures possible. Just buy the rebel body with 50mm f/1.8 lens or 28-105mm USM lens(if you have some bucks), you will be very happy looking at the excellent pictures they produce!! You will thank yourself!
In a nutshell, purchasing Z155 is not a good value for the price.
If you just use AUTO mode buy some other point and shoot camera like Olympus Stylus Epic(infinity), otherwise go for a good SLR you will be lot more happier. Good luck!
Blurry pictures
This is not the first autofocus camera we have ever had, but it is the first to produce so many blurry photos. Apparently by design this camera is not focused until the green light stops blinking; this doesn't sound like a major problem except that THE GREEN LIGHT IS ALMOST ALWAYS BLINKING! What is that? When it does actually stop blinking, well, then, you get a really nice photo. But try it yourself - it's difficult to get the stupid light to stop blinking. According to the manual - the cause of blinking is 'camera unable to focus'; suggested remedy - focus on something else. That's great...
