Editorial Reviews

Album Description
Re-issue of this 1971 motion picture soundtrack. It shows precisely how much of a golden touch the Bee Gees had in the years 1967-1970 that even this soundtrack album, on which they participated in only the most limited way, is one of the prettiest records of their output. For starters, it marked the first official appearance of Barry Gibb's 'Morning of My Life (In the Morning)', a song (credited here as 'In the Morning') that he'd written four years earlier which the group had performed regularly in Australia and which had been offered to other artists, but had somehow never been recorded by them until this soundtrack. Coupled with conductor/arranger Richard Hewson's original orchestral material, and a pleasant if undistinguished original song called 'Working on It Night and Day' (featuring Barry Hewson on vocals), and oddities such as a group of elementary school students performing 'Spicks and Specks', the result is a very rewarding Bee Gees curio, and, thanks to 'In the Morning', one that is essential to any serious collection of their work. Polydor. 1996.

Customer Reviews

DVD is available4
In Asia, this movie is a blockbuster, together with Robbie Benson's "Jeremy", these two are my favourite puppy love movies. The Bee Gees' songs in the movie are very popular in Asia and UK. From the reviews posted here, the movie is also a blockbuster in Latin America. The soundtrack album is one of the best selling in that era, together with "Saturday Night Fever", the Bee Gees has two best selling soundtrack albums around the world. This is also the only CD which featured the Bee Gees' "Give your best". For those who are looking for the DVD, it is still available at Amazon.co.jp (I think Amazon USA wouldn't mind the advertisement I made for its subsidiary). Just type B00005R22H (the ASIN number) at the DVD search window and you will find it.(updated 30 June 2008)

Finally in CD!!!5
Back in the early 1970s, maybe around 1972 or 1973, this film was shown here in Mexico and it became quite popular with young kids (I was 10 at that time)! I saw it and I loved it, especially the music! So, I bought the soundtrack (vinyl) and have played it over and over again for the last thirty-something years!

I had been looking for this CD for years and finally I found it here at Amazon's!!! I got it today and have played it at least four times already! It brought back so many memories!!! This CD edition is great, not only because it obviously has no scratch noise, but also because it features some music not previously included in my vinyl soundtrack! I'll be able to retire my very tired and abused old vinyl!

If you saw the film and liked the music back in the 70s you'll certainly love this album, it has some really nice songs!!!

SADLY, THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO REMMEMBER A GREAT MOVIE.5
This album is one of my all time favorites ! It is unfortunate the movie doesn't seem to have been as popular in the US as it was in the rest of the world which sadly means there is no way to find it on DVD or even VHS. As for this album, what great songs it has ! The title song, "In the Morning" and "Give your best" are specially great. If you were born in the 50's/60's and got to see the movie when it came out, this Soundtrack simply needs no recomendation.
