As its title suggests, Like Mike is a rousing wish-fulfillment fantasy for any kid who's ever dreamed of soaring for a game-winning slam dunk like basketball legend Michael Jordan. It's fun but formulaic, beginning when 14-year-old, 4-foot-8 orphan Calvin Cambridge (played by appealing teen rapper Lil' Bow Wow) dons a magical pair of hand-me-down Nikes with the enticing initials "M.J." written inside. Next thing you know, Calvin's the new star of the L.A. Knights, an instant NBA celebrity taking his team to the playoffs alongside favorite teammate Tracy Reynolds (The Best Man's Morris Chestnut), with a bevy of villains (including reliable weirdo Crispin Glover) trying to steal his thunder. With Jerry Maguire's Jonathan Lipnicki as a fellow orphan, and a solid supporting cast including Eugene Levy, Robert Forster, and two dozen NBA stars, Like Mike is schmaltzy and predictable (and, surprisingly, there's no cameo from Jordan himself), but its sweet, good-natured quality will captivate kids from start to finish. --Jeff Shannon

Like Mike-all you need is a hear and you'll love this movie
I saw Bow Wow's movie Like Mike on it's debut day,July 3rd.The movie defintely gets two thumbs up for me...too bad I wasn't born with an extra thumb because then it would get 3! The movie isn't all about basketball....Bow Wow also has his mind set on finding a family to adopt him in the movie so it's not all about ball!This movie is for kids and grown-ups(they thre Morris Chestnut in there!)The movie is funny,sad,and many more. Go see it for yourself.

Fantastic Movie For Kids!
Great flick! Rented it from the library on a whim because I saw that Robert Forster was in it. Surprisingly good. Well acted and directed. The ending made me cry I am embarassed to say (tears of joy).

Both Kids and Parents Will Enjoy!
What a great movie! This movie has a great story line, is very uplifting, and has a nice ending. I enjoyed the movie as much as the kids. Not only can Lil' Bow Wow sing but he can also act. Morris Chestnut also turned in a great acting job. He was extremely convincing as an NBA star. This is just an all around good movie! You won't be disappointed....
