Customer Reviews
Very very pleased...
Works great. Plug and play using WinXP and USB 1.1. I've burned a few data discs and a few music CDs with no coasters. The Construction is better than most Iomega drives. Hot Burn software is a joke - which is why it gets 4 stars instead of 5- I invested in Nero 5.5 which is much much better. I highly recommended it for WinXP users.
Stingy consumer delighted *not* to be disappointed.
I am always sticking it to myself by going cheap. This time, I'm ok! My imation 4x4x6 external USB CD-RW died (after more than two years of faithful service, long out of warranty) and I spent a chunk of time shopping for an external USB DVD-RW, but they are still too expensive for a cheap guy like me. Plus, I want standards and security to settle a little more. (Another six to twelve months ought to do it for both categories, right?)
To fill the gap, in which I still need to back up my data and burn audio for the car, I bought a refurbished Iomega 48x24x48 External USB 2.0 CD-RW through Amazon, and I'm happy to say that it came right away quick and I installed it and ran it without any hitch. And that almost never happens. (For comparison, I am running WinME on a Dell Inspiron 4000 laptop.)
The included HotBurn Pro (ver 2.2.1) software doesn't seem to me so far to be as sophisticated as Adaptec's Easy CD Creator (v4) or Nero (v5), two other burning managers I've used, but it does its job and is easy and obvious to use.
Love the modularity and portability (even though it's not compact at 6 1/2" wide, 2 1/4" tall, and 9 1/4" front-to-back), and it seems solidly built.
Long may it burn.
Invest in better software!
CD burner works fine, and ease of installation makes it worth 4 stars ... but HotBurn software is terrible ... I'm looking for compatible software that will work better with the drive.
