Anita with competent backing and arrangements and in great voice
I have to say up front I have long been a fan of Anita's and this series of performances represents her probably at her peak, and with very competent musical backing.Like too many of the great jazz musicians her personal life was a mess, but when she was between personal train wrecks, she was simply great.She sings, she swings, she has a sense of humor, she plays with the lyrics and the melody and the instrumentalists.She was very adaptable as jazz changed, she changed, moving from singing with the big swing bands to working with small combos, changing with changing styles,and a fluent ,relaxed, scat singer.
