Product Description
The new Magellan WP I series of binoculars is a high-performance, compact, easy-to-use, water-proof, fog-proof, and dirt-proof line built for relentless visual performance in severe outdoor conditions. The binoculars come in two magnifications, 8x25 and 10x25, and combine superior visual performance with minimal size and weight, making them a must have item for any outdoor enthusiast. There is definitely no trade-off between image quality and durability with the Magellan series, as all lenses and prisms are fully multi-coated for maximum brightness and contrast, and high refractive index BaK4 prisms assure bright, crisp, edge-to-edge imaging. The Magellan WP I series of binoculars offer superior eye protection with Olympus special optical materials used to reduce the transmission of harmful UV rays. A built-in dioptric correction that adjusts to each user's individual eyesight ensures that viewers will always see action clearly. The Magellan WP I binoculars offer long eye relief, which refers to the maximum distance from the eyepiece lens at which the entire image can be seen. The high number ensures that users will be able to see the entire image through the binoculars even with glasses on. The Magellan WP I binoculars are extremely compact in size, yet durable enough to withstand the elements and the needs of mountain-climbers and water-sport enthusiasts alike. The WP I series are lighter, smaller, and therefore easier to carry than the original Magellan EXWP I series, making them ideal for mountaineering, kayaking, and other outdoor activities where gear must be kept to a minimum. The new Magellan WP I series are fully water-proof to a depth of one meter, perfect for use during any outdoor, on-water endeavors. The binoculars' hermetically sealed and nitrogen gas-filled lens system assures waterproof, fog-proof and dirt-proof performance under extreme weather conditions, and prevents mold from growing during long-term storage.

Customer Reviews
nice travel binocular but far from perfect
The Olympus Magellan 8x25 is very compact, but it doesn't fold up quite as tiny as double-hinged compact binoculars. If you don't mind the small size, overall the ergonomics and feel are quite good - better to me than the similar Pentax 8x25 DCF MC II. The big center focus wheel is nice but mine has little resistance. Wedging a small thin elastic behind it 'solved' this. There is just barely enough focus travel for me to reach focus on infinity without glasses, though I am very nearsighted. The click-stop detents of the twist-in/out eyecups have become mushy over time and no longer hold their position firmly. To focus farther out, you turn the focus wheel counter-clockwise; it's more intuitive to have it the opposite way. Excellent close-focus of about 7'. This binocular has just enough eye relief for me to see the entire field of view when I'm wearing my glasses. Though the field of view is 5.5º which is very narrow for an 8x binocular. For watching fast-moving action like sporting events or birds, you'll probably want something with at least around 8º FOV . Resolution ('sharpness') and freedom from chromatic aberration (false color) in the one I got is about average for an 8x binocular. It's water resistant to a shallow depth (like for quickly rinsing off dirt or sand), but don't expect truly water proof - few binoculars are. Comes with caps for the eyepiece end but not the objectives. But it does come with a neoprene case. If you can get the Magellan 8x25 for less than $100, it's a good buy for a travel binocular, mine is a constant travel companion.
Olympus Magellan 8X25 WP I binoculars
I bought these binoculars to take on our Alaska cruise and land tour and they worked great. Easy to use and the view was perfect. I carried them around my neck all day long during excursions and hikes. They are very light weight and easy to carry. I would highly recommend these!
great little binocular
Very impressive for smaller binoculars. I have compared these in terms of image quality to inexpensive 10x50s, and I thought these are as good. Even when I look at the stars using these small binoculars, the stars are clear. Excellent quality.
