Great Tripod for Film-makers
I bought the Manfrotto Wilderness tripod with the 503 fluid head because I own a Canon HV20. If you dont know, the Hv20 is an awesome little HD camera but it doesnt look so good when its handheld, because its very sensitive and shaky. I personally dont like looking at handheld footage. I like smooth pans and tilts. So I looked into a really nice tripod for the cheapest possible price. And unfortunately this isnt really "cheap" by my standards, its pretty expensive. But its worth it. The perfect fluid movement you get with the 503 head is amazing, I would never use anything less than that. And the Wilderness tripod legs are really great. There is only one downside and that is the weight. Its pretty heavy. But that is also good because it can hold up in high winds. If you are planning on hiking it into the backcountry like me, you must adequetly compensate for the weight of this heavy tripod. Also I have tried using it in water about 1 1/2 feet deep. The tripod leg filled with water, which is sort of what I was expecting, and I dont think it harmed anything, but I'm not sure I'll try it again. Overall: very pleased with it, and it comes with a nice bag. I wouldnt go with anything "less" than the 503 fluid head. Happy Filming!
