Historic
This DVD is not the strongest in video quality, given
the vintage. However, The first segment of Lester Young
is from the 40s, is much better than DVDs of the 60s
that I have purchased. This is a history, that shows
Charlie Parker's boyish grin, as he works with the great
Coleman Hawkins. The Miles Davis with Gil Evans orchestra
is not in sync. If you can overlook this flaw, you can
see and hear selections from the Kinda' of Blue CD.
I would buy this one just for the chance to see the great
Lester Young with a young sweets, Ray Brown and others.
It was done by a studio, and state of the art, for it's
day. For die hard fans, this one is a must. I am looking
at this review and I notice Amazon has Walter Cronkite in
the description, ignore it, it is Lester Young and others.
