Album Description
Hot on the heels of the Kenny Dope In the House is the next brilliant offering in the Defected series: the inimitable and very stylish…Dimitri from Paris!
This limited edition 3 CD set includes an enhanced bonus CD with exclusive Dimitri disco re-edits, exclusive interview with Dimitri himself, live video footage, gallery, screensaver and other special features. The double pack vinyl also includes previously unavailable Dimitri re-edits.
Dimitri is known for his love of early 70's funk and the disco music that came along afterwards. He has a distinctive style of fusing the best house tracks with the most respected disco classics. His style is refreshing and fun and breathes life onto any dance floor where ever he plays. This album is a great reflection of his style and represents his sound to the fullest. Dimitri is often considered, along with Laurent Garnier, Danny Krivit and Eric Rug, to be one of the best house DJ's in France. He displays this with his unique track selection.
The album itself is destined to be a classic: jazzy house, sublime vocals, lush instrumentation and funky beefed up beats. Dimitri’s offering is a highly respectable work waltzing the line between being upfront – by presenting the most recent floor fillers curretly sweeping France and beyond and paying homage to Disco and House music’s forefathers by presenting seminal works like the O'Jays "I love music."
Customer Reviews
This disco influenced house is not for the faint hearted
I have the full Dimtiri collection all on vinyl - I think to classify this music as house is a mistake. Its mixed disco. Mixed damn well. I collect old disco vinyl and to me this is a treasure trove of very hard to find vinyl with some funky beats mixed in to make it easier to mix. These records did it for me on both a funk and disco level. For those of us who spend hours thumbing through old dirty records in the basements of second hand record shops looking for that piece of gold to blow the lid off the joints we play, these records are a godsend.
I am the first to admit that if ur not a dj and your looking for the "jam in ur cdplayer magic and play till it bleeds" of after the playboy (esp. the uplifting) this may not be your cup of tea - but i hope if ur reading this u own cassius 99 and discovery - and how much sense do they make NOW?
This disco influenced house is not for the faint hearted - and unless u have a passion for the obscure - stick with the naked music records or something similar. Its not mainstream.
It's a collectors edition, not a good cd for the car unless u like the ff button.
I like it.
This is a quality release, and well worth having in your collection. I agree that Dimitri From Paris has done better(Night at the Playboy Mansion), but that doesn't mean that these cd's aren't very good as well. I especially love disc 2. Which is good because the theme is just that, love. The songs are very upbeat. It puts me in a good mood every time I listen. Sure, there are one or two tracks that I don't really care for. But the good songs vastly outweigh the bad. And I personally don't mind a little disco with my house. Listen and judge for yourself.
Really Great House!!!
This tripple cd is really good, one the best out there.Yes it has the boring songs but if you take all the good songs and put them in to one cd you have the BOMB. You can totally feel the french house feeling. Cheers
