Sometimes the road less traveled is the most rewarding. This age-old axiom proves true with Absolute Worship, a 25-track collection of recently-released modern worship songs recorded by second- and third-tier artists in Christian music. But don't let the anonymity fool you as there are plenty of gems on these two discs. Disc One seems to be the stronger with Big Daddy Weave's "Audience of One," Jeremy Camp's "Empty Me," Lincoln Brewster's "Power of Your Love," and Tree63's "Treasure," all melodic and pleasing in their own distinctive styles. Darrell Evans' powerful ballad "All We Want Is You" and Telecast's hard-charging "The Way" also shine as does "Traveling Light," the cheerfully rollicking duet by Joel Hanson and Sara Groves. Disc Two is no slouch, either, with Watermark's enchanting "Holy" and By The Tree's "Wait," which conjures up plenty of Lennon-McCartney late-period comparisons. Ginny Owens, perhaps the most well-known artist on the double-disc, offers her hauntingly beautiful "If You Want Me To" which caps off the release. The Absolute Worship collection is yet another example for Christian artists in how pervasive the modern worship movement is as well as how deep the roster is of good songwriters. --Michael Lyttle

Best Compilation Album Ever
This is the best compilation album I have ever owned. It has all of my favorite Christian songs, all of which are songs that sing praises to God or sing songs of sweet surrender. These songs hit me at a sweet spot. I know that the folks who put this album out were just trying to make some money off Christian music listeners, but they have no idea how helpful it is to keep me focused on my relationship with God when I'm working and when I'm at home.
Used, it is the best music investment one could make.
My refuge
After a long day, this album was my refuge. The songs offer so much to meditate on. The title of this album is not far from the truth. I am not what you might call a religious person, in fact, one of my closest friends gave me this album a while back as a birthday gift. It was in my "listen to it later pile", slash "never listen cause it sounds too religious pile". I felt moved the first time I heard the whole album. It is a powerful collection of songs. A deeper sense of meditation and prayer can be felt from every artist. I listen to this album when times are difficult and when I need some time with my thoughts. It's a great buy, and at $1.99 used, its a bargain.
