If imaginative play is a child's most important work, Kipper: Imagine That! will give kids plenty of ideas to work with in this sweet compilation of seven Nick Jr. episodes, based on the books by British author-illustrator Mick Inkpen. Compared by some to Eric Hill's Spot, Kipper is a floppy-eared, good-natured puppy drawn in simple lines and pastel hues. During this one-hour program, Kipper and pals turn ordinary playthings into imaginative adventures. In one story, a tattered rope becomes a circus trapeze; in another, a tree trunk morphs into a pirate's cove. Later, a bouquet of balloons gives rise to lofty imaginings. Young viewers will be inspired to create their own fanciful frolics (magic shows, costume parties, and carnival games) when they hear Kipper's kindly encouragement to "give it a go." Strange surprise
Kipper has been a great love at our house since my 3 year old son was 18 months. The "Kipper- Imagine That" video does have one strange and rather freaky story in it- it starts with the characters finding a secret door that leads them off into darkness. Eventually, they end up a desert-like land where a scary dragon pops out of a crater at them! It scared the daylights out of my son, who insists on fastforwarding through that entire episode. The other stories are your typical gentle Kipper and friends.

You'll love these stories as much as your child will
My 22 month old son and I LOVE Kipper. The shorts included in this video showcase Kipper and his friends in all sorts of situations where they rely on their imaginations to have fun. It's also longer than most kids' videos--a full hour--and if you can wade through the seemingly endless promos for other videos at the beginning of the tape, you'll fall in love with Kipper, just like we did.

Another great Kipper video
All my kids (ages 7, 5 & 2 1/2) just love watching the Kipper videos and especially this one. There are so many imaginative adventures in this one...the dragon scene -- I guess it depends on the kids. My kids can't wait for the dragon to pop out, and they want to rewind over that part many times in a row to watch it again. There's really nothing to dislike, in general, about the Kipper videos, and this one does not disappoint.
