The GR-SXM260 is a new compact stylish design. This newly designed SVHS-C model features a 2.5" LCD and built-in auotlight.The JVC GR-SXM260U boasts three recording modes: It uses Super VHS recording to deliver up to 60% better resolution than our standard models for better quality home movies. For quality and economy, the Super VHS ET mode lets you take those high resolution videos using any VHS-C tape. For compatibility with any VHS video recorder, standard VHS is also available.

A 2.5" LCD view screen allows the camera to be operated from any angle, for maximum comfort. The picture stabilizer gets rid of annoying picture shake. The 700X zoom makes sure you don't miss any of the action. A built-in light improves the picture in night time situations. Endurance Shooting allows up to two hours recording time with the provided battery pack. When you are done recording, the tapes play back & and can be shared in any VHS video recorder using the provided VHS-C Playpak.

S-VHS-C
The S-VHS-C format (the "S" stands for super) is a higher resolution version of VHS-C (400 lines as opposed to 240 lines for VHS-C) and can only be viewed through an S-video connection. VHS-C tapes offer some of the shortest recording times (40 minutes) and lowest video resolution of analog formats). S-VHS-C tapes have a maximum recording time of two hours.

EXELLENT CAMCORDER WITH A LOW PRICE TAG.
At first the camera looked like it was just a odinary one until i tried it. Wow everything was just so great 700X digital zoom could almost take any distant shot with just a click of a button. This Camera is fully loaded with image stabilizes and inbuilt light the rotatable lcd was simply facinating and it was very clear to me that this camera could take evryshot very clearly especially the image stabilizer comes in handy when you are travelling in a RV or a Car toshoot the outside Nature.
WOW THIS CAM IS REALLY WONDERFUL.

"Last of the Mohicans "camcorder
I bought this camera thinking since it was VHS it would perform better in low light (as did my older 8mm)than a digital one. WRONG. It also will drain the battery in 15 minutes. Resolution is poor with VHS mode and svhs tapes cost too much. Noisy tape makes me weary. Don't waste your money on this old"last of the mohicans" format. Just get a digital camcorder and buy a light.My $299. digital Sharp blows it away. I can't hardly give it away. Want mine for $150?

Pretty good camcorder
I'm really hard on stuff....I take a lot of those crazy action shots with my JVC and it does a great job with sound and picture. It's a pretty tough little camera too. I actually broke my first one and am purchasing another of the same because my videos came out great!
