Bach composed this Magnifica for the Christmas Vesper Service in 1723; in keeping with tradidion, Christmas carols-sung by an additional choir paed in the choir loft-are added to the Magnificat in the performance fimed at the 800 year old church of St Nicholas in Leipzig. Performed by Barbara Hoen, Helge Termer, Ute Trkel-Burckhardt, Armin Ude, Hermann Chritian Polster the Choir of the Hly Cross; and the Dreden Philharmnoic under the direction of Martin Flamig
