You get what you pay for...
You pay less than $20 for a simple paper cutter and you get a cheap simple paper cutter. For the price this is pretty good (hence my 3 star rating). If you want something fancier and more rugged, then you should buy something fancier and more rugged with a fancier and more rugged price tag, too! I had to laugh when I read the previous reviewer said that they lined everything up just right and still got a diagonal cut. I used to do computer training years ago. When we ran into a problem like this, we would say it was a short circuit between the seat and the keyboard. :-)

Not Great
I was given this as a gift & it is pretty useless. I can't figure out why, but when you hold the paper against the little guide ridge, it always cuts a slight diagonal. You also really have to press down on the blade to get it to cut rather than simply score & then it is very difficult to line back up if you miss on the first pass. The rulers are no help to me either. I'm about to order something better to replace this.

Not good if you like straight cuts
I am a card maker and occassional scrapbooker and I have one of these trimmers and I hate it. I can get a straight cut once in a while, but I like to have things cut straight. I really dislike this trimmer. I thought it was defective so I wrote to Fiskar and they sent me a new one. While it was a bit better, I still faced the same problem, inconsistent results and bad cuts. I WOULD NOT buy this or recommend this cutter ever.
