Indie ain't in Indiana
When BCI's THE INDEPENDENTS 4 Movie Pack was released in 2004, it was touted as a celebration of the independent film maker. Being a "maverick" brings with it the freedom to create, unhampered by interference from above. [...]
CONTENTS:
THE BOOK THAT WROTE ITSELF-- To prove his latest writing is credible, an author acts his book out and simultaneously makes it into a movie. Later at the Venice Film Festival, he queries several prominent actors during a Q&A, again with his camera rolling. Stars the screenwriter/director.
CANNES MAN-- An astounding roster of actors. directors and producers appear briefly in this movie-biz spoof. At the Cannes Film Festival, a producer hypes a fictional "greatest writer since Hemingway" and the supposed author's latest work, "Cannes Man" (pronounced "con").
INTERRUPTIONS-- A single summer day in the life of an on-vacation New York college student who's returned to her dysfunctional family in L.A.
RAW FISH-- Sophomoric and unsavory "guy" flick about three frat buddies who enter a contest to see who can "shoot the farthest," the winner receiving a cameo appearance with a famous adult movie starlet. Includes characters identified as: Crotchman, Tampon Girl, Gay Guy, Lisa Swells, etc.
CULT FICTION 4 Movie Pack (also from BCI / Eclipse) offers another unusual sampling of little-seen indie cinema.
BRENTWOOD's 4-fers are nicely priced movie bundles. Video and sound quality of these digitally unrestored public domain films is generally fine. Discs are dual-side recorded.
