The Panasonic CGA-DU21A/1B Lithium-ion Rechargeable Battery is a battery pack intended for use with the PV-GS200, 400, 120, 55, 70, and 50 Panasonic digital camcorder models and the VDR-M70, 50, and 30 Panasonic DVD camcorder models. This battery pack lasts up to six hours and 45 minutes. The operation time was achieved on continuous recording at 68-degrees Fahrenheit and at 60-percent humidity with a power consumption of 4.3 W (for DVC) and 6.0 W (for VHS-C). Operating time will vary by model of camcorder, usage, and temperature.

Always buy the official battery
This official Panasonic camcorder battery also works for the new VDR-D300 and VDR-D250 3CCD DVD camcorders. I had checked Panasonic's website to confirm before I bought it for my VDR-D300. It works very well.

As a gadget expert (if there were such a thing), I highly recommend getting an official battery. Sure, the generics can cost 1/3 as much, but you run serious and real risks of getting an explosion or other undesirable results. I don't say this because I work for Panasonic; I don't work for any electronics company or any electronics store. I say it because I believe 1) a real battery is a worthy long-term investment for your expensive camcorder, and 2) your life and well-being are worth more than the price difference. You also save yourself lots of hassles down the road.

Large Panasonic Camcorder Battery
This is the battery to use with your Panasonic Camcorder. Makes the original almost useless. Not much larger or heavier, with nearly twice as much recording time than the one that comes with the unit.

lasts for hours
I bought this battery to use with my new NV-GS180PL camcorder. The camcorder only came with one battery so this is a backup. It lasts 3-4 hours, I even use it while I'm streaming video onto my computer for editing. It recharges in 1-2 hours. My only complaint is that it is big. On the model of camcorder I have, the battery attaches right below the eyepiece, so if I use this battery, it sticks out so far I can't use the eyepiece. That's not a huge problem as I usually rely on the monitor. But, just to let you know of that negative. Other than that, it's great and I'm very satisfied.
