Not So Long Ago faithfully and dramatically captures the expansive and exciting period in the five years between the end of World War II and the Korean War. The film is filled with captivating footage of the significant themes and events of the period – consumer standard of living shifting into high gear, the rise of Negro baseball, the growing Red Scare and communist witch hunt, the 1948 presidential campaign in which Harry Truman confounded the experts, and much more. Narrated by Bob Hope.

Customer Reviews
Still a CLASSIC!
I used this video when teaching American History and have never forgotten it. I bought one for myself and my father who went through WW2. The topics are well-chosen, the nostalgia overwhelming. It's a great look back at a brief, transient period when (to quote the movie) "the United States stood at the top of the world". We're larger, more powerful and more daunting today but we'll never be in the same state of world hegemony again. As Bob Hope observes, "peace...it was nice while it lasted but someone half a world away had taken it...it was up to us to find it again"
If you lived through the 40's you'll love this....you deserve all the credit.
