The Konus Maksutov-Cassegrain telescopes incorporate 4 optical designs in one scope: the lenses of refractors, the mirrors of Newtonians, the compact designs of Schmidt-Cassegrains and the unique exotic design of the Maksutov-Cassegrain. This results in wider viewing fields, sharper imagery and a slightly heavier unit for any given aperture versus a more traditional design.

A 90mm diameter aperture can magnify up to 180x for deep space objects, but is also right at home at 20x for capturing a bird on a branch. The built-in flip mirror system offers a straight-down view of 90 degrees, or flip the mirror for a 45¡ view by adding the included star diagonal. Your camera can easily be attached to capture the moment.

• 90mm x 1200mm -- The first number refers to the size of the objective lens or the aperture of the telescope. Larger apertures provide a brighter image with greater resolution, especially in dim lighting or deep sky observation. The second number 900) refers to the focal length of the telescope or the distance the light travels from the lens to the focused image. Longer focal lengths provide more power through a variety of eyepieces.
• Maksutov-Cassegrain - A design that utilizes a spherically curved front lens element in conjunction with a similarly curved primary mirror. This configuration provides incredibly sharp images in a compact folded-light path package. The total optical system provides a focal length much longer than the actual optical tube body length.
