The MINOX BD 7 x 42 BR asph. boasts a fantastic field of view and compact features which satisfy the requirements put by several application fields. In many sport and hunting situations it is particularly important to provide an extremely steady image. With the new MINOX glass the observer is guaranteed practically shake-free viewing. The features responsible for this are the large exit pupil of 6mm and the 7 x magnification. The use of aspherical lenses provides additional edge sharpness and also a substantial reduction in weight based on the compact design. The MINOX BD 7x42 BR asph. is now a great companion for people wearing glasses as well, as the special eyepiece for wearers of glasses, featuring infinitely variable sliding eyecups, enable them to experience the full field of view. The M lens coating which is renowned all over the world for minimizing optical reflections and the phase-corrected prisms permits an exceptionally high light transmission. Like all other binoculars of the MINOX series, the BD 7 x 42 BR asph. has a body of rubber-armored aluminum which guarantees high stability as well as reliable functioning of the inner optical and precision mechanical systems. The argon gas filling avoids misting up of the optical system from the inside.

From the Manufacturer
For adventurous individuals who are always looking for something new to discover, nature is their realm of constant challenges. They set out to search for unforgettable impressions and images. It is for these individuals that Leica Camera AG develops binoculars and spotting scopes – in other words, optical instruments that embody the full technological know-how of the brand.
Many outstanding Leica binoculars based on this premise have already been created in the past. But now, Leica has succeeded in establishing an entirely new category : The line of Ultravid binoculars. Logically tailored to the intended use, every technical and ergonomic detail was painstakingly examined, perfected or completely reinvented. A housing made of magnesium, a central hinge shaft of extremely sturdy titanium – which materials could possibly be more robust and lighter at the same time? The optical system Leica HLS – which optics could be more brilliant? The new shape with its outstanding ergonomics – what could possibly be more pleasant to use? It is the sum of all these qualities that qualify every Ultravid as a binocular for individuals with the highest demands.
Features:
- Bright optics that are extremely rich in contrast because of the Leica HighLux System (HLS ) and optical / mechanical stray light optimization
- Two design versions : With rubber armoring (BR) for a good grip, or with an elegant leather covering (BL)
- Extreme lightness from 700 grams (25 oz) with simultaneous high stability, thanks to the magnesium body shell and the titanium hinge shaft
- Outstandingly easy to use because of its compact ergonomic shape
- Removable rotating sleeves with two click stops
- Newly designed multi-function central drive with integrated diopter compensation
- Impact resistant, watertight to a depth of 5m (16.4 ft), cold-proof down to -25 degrees C (-13 degrees F)
Customer Reviews
Ordered a Leica, received a Minox -- twice!
I was shopping for Leica's excellent '7x42 BR' Ultravid binoculars when I found this Amazon page. I thought the product name was confusing. Leica does NOT produce a 'BD 7x42 BR' model, so was the 'BD' a typo?
The 'Product Description' and 'Product Specifications' perfectly describe Leica's 7x42 BR Ultravid binoculars. The price was great. So I ordered a pair.
A few days later I received... a pair of MINOX BD 7x42 BR binocs. Whoops! Someone obviously messed up the order. Amazon allowed me to ship the Minox binocs back for free and wait for the next backordered shipment of the Leicas.
A month later, my package finally arrives. I open the box to discover a new pair of--you guessed it--MINOX BD 7x42 BR binoculars.
A quick search of Amazon for 'Leica 7x42' turned up a new listing: 'Leica Binoculars Ultravid 7x42 BR Black Rubber Armored'. Gee, I thought that's what I bought. The 'Product Description' for the new listing is almost identical, but the price is much higher.
I've just sent the second set of Minox BD 7x42 BR binocs back to Amazon and asked once again for the Leicas I paid for. Anyone's guess what will happen next, but I'm expected a Minox trifecta. If you're looking for a good price on Leica ultravids, the Leica 'BD 7x42 BN binoculars' is probably NOT the product to order.
