Album Description
A famous artists lives quietly with his wife in the countryside of Southern France. When visited by a young painter & his girlfriend, he is inspired to start again the work on what was to become his masterpiece, La Belle Noiseuse. He chooses that girl to replace his wife as the model for the work. As his creative juices begin to flow again, his work starts to change the lives of all those around him. The film is approx. 126 minutes long & was directed by respected French director Jacques Rivette (Wuthering Heights) in 1991. Starring Michel Piccoli & Jane Birkin. La Belle Noiseuse Lite
This is the truncated version of LA BELLE NOISEUSE. I couldn't afford the full 240 minute version which sells on AMAZON for $35. This is the divertimento cut which runs 130 minutes. Purists disdain this shorter version, but half a glass of Guinness is still a Guinness. The artist at work paint drying scenes have been severely edited, changing the tone. The narrative remains mostly intact. Made for the Asian market, this dvd has optional Chinese and English subtitles.
