Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com
Unplugged, but electrifying nonetheless, Canada-based blueswoman Sue Foley's first live disc was recorded in one take with a band that hadn't rehearsed the set. Yet, instead of a sloppy, slapdash show, she delivers her most inspired and undoubtedly most intimate album to date. With a sparse three-piece band nimbly following along, Foley digs into personal blues favorites, dusty obscurities, new songs, and even a George Harrison cover. Delta blues, Piedmont-style fingerpicking, boogie-woogie, folk, and even jazz mesh in a set that easily shifts from shyly sensitive to sadly ruminative to unabashedly sexy. Foley's quivering, almost childlike voice perfectly juxtaposes these emotions as she sings with loose-limbed confidence, helping to create an uninhibited feel that jumps out of the grooves. --Hal Horowitz

First Sue Foley Album For Me4
Sometimes impulse buys work out. My thanks to the Amazon reviewer. It's hard for me to believe that this is an unrehearsed, 1st take, live performance. Sue and her band must know one another inside and out. They're unplugged but on fire as they plow their way through the set. Sue is sassy and sexy and definitely in charge of the room. The song "Sugar In My Bowl" nearly melted the fillings in my teeth. LOL Now if I could get somebody who's reading this review to tell me which Sue Foley album to pick up next.

BACK TO THE BLUES5
THIS IS AN EXCELLENT LIVE ALBUM.RECORDED IN ONE NIGHT IN TORONTO,ABOUT HALF THE ALBUM IS JUST SUE AND HER GUITAR AND THE OTHER HALF WITH JUST THE RIGHT ACCOMPANYMENT.A DEFINITE MUST HAVE FOR ALL SUE FOLEY FANS.I FELT HER LAST ALBUM WHERE THE ACTION IS WAS STRAYING A BIT AWAY FROM THE GREAT BLUES SHE ALWAYS PLAYS,BUT THIS ALBUM WAS A PLEASANT SUPRISE.GET IT!

Satisfying!5
This is my first Sue Foley album. I ran across it at a bookstore that allows you to listen to samples from the tracks.

Unfortunately, that store makes it such a pain to actually buy a CD that I ended up being forced to wait a few days to receive it in the mail from Amazon.

Well worth the wait. I'm a big fan of live CDs, I always feel like you get a better feel for the energy and excitement that makes an artist gain a folloowing and this CD proves that out.

Very satisfying live performance blues.
