Product Description

Broken Lizard is back?and this time the crazy comedy troupe that brought you Super Troopers is taking you on a trip so outrageously fun?it?s murder. Welcome to Coconut Pete?s Pleasure Island, a tropical, tequila-soaked vacation resort where high-spirited fun soon takes a deadly turn?leaving the island?s hilariously inept staff to battle a machete-wielding maniac as they fight to survive another day in paradise. Filled with sidesplitting humor, scary slasher scenes, and plenty of bikini-clad babes, Broken Lizard?s Club Dread is a comedy to die for!

Looking for plenty of sex, violence, and lowbrow comedy? If you are, you could do a lot worse (or is it a lot better?) than to visit Club Dread, a boldly wretched excuse for broad comedy perpetrated by the Broken Lizard troupe--the same guys who brought their potty-mouthed brand of lunacy to bear on 2002's Super Troopers. That alone should serve as ample warning or invitation, depending on your tolerance for way-too-casual sketch comedy, stitched together with an emphasis on big, gross laughs and enough female frontal nudity to give Girls Gone Wild a run for its money. It all takes place on Coconut Pete's Pleasure Island, where Pete (Bill Paxton, slumming it with infectious abandon) holds court while scantily clad vacationers play crazy games (life-size Pac-Man, anyone?) and provide easy prey for a slasher on the loose. Ah, but there's the rub: Is this schizoid movie a comedy or a horror flick? It's both... and neither... and the bloodletting is surprisingly extreme amidst all the poop and fart jokes. Of course, that won't stop Club Dread from finding its audience. We know you're out there…and you know who you are. --Jeff Shannon

Customer Reviews

Hey, Broken Lizard Can Do No Wrong in My World . . .4
The problem with this film is that it falls into a narrow, narrow film niche: horror-comedy. Many horror fans will loathe the fact that the film parodies common tropes of the genre . . . many comedy fans may not "get" the parody itself. Thus, you have the wildly mixed reviews that you find here.

Personally, I found this work hysterical (but I love goofy films like "Idle Hands," "Evil Dead," and "April Fool's Day"). Bill Paxton portrayal of a Jimmy Buffet "wannabe" is spot-on!! Moreover, it was refreshing to see Kevin Heffernan fearlessly tackle a character completely different from Farva: a spiritual masseur! Still, Jay Chandrasekhar steals the show not merely because he is one of the most handsome men in existence, but because his character of Putnam is RIDICULOUSLY FUNNY!!

If you don't "get" why "Shaun of the Dead" was so uproariously funny, this film may leave you confused and disappointed. Still, you should buy it for the Pac-Man scene alone!!! And, no, it's not "Super Troopers" . . . BUT WHAT IS??! It is just a silly film . . . exactly what it was intended to be!! On that level, it succeeds!!

Just give this film a chance:) (And buy "Beerfest" too!!)

Saw it last night....5
at the University of Pittsburgh's free sneak preview. All I have to say is wow! It was amazing. It is slightly scary (not expected) and overwhelmingly, extremely funny (more than expected). It doesn't play off of Super Troopers' success at all. This movie has a life of its own and is worth seeing. I love it. All I want to know if when does it come out on DVD?

must watch more than once!5
This movie i saw the day it opened in the theater and imust say iw as disappointed. then i rented it on dvd and was liek this isnt bad. I ended up buying the movie and now have watched it many many tinmes and laugh more each time. There are many things in the movie that you dont get the 1st time around and dotn notice til the 5th or 10th time watching it! If you dont like this movie and dont laugh out loud numerous times then you just arent understanding this movie!
