Product Description

Karen Allen (Raiders of the Lost Ark) delivers "a performance of great humor and subtle emotion" (Variety) as a lonely American tourist who falls for a suave French playboy in this bright, funny and passionate romance. As far as Mo Alexander (Allen) was concerned, Paris was just an unplanned pit stop on her whirlwind tour of Europe. But that was before she missed her connecting flight and met sexy Frenchman Xavier de la Perouse (Thierry Lhermitte). Savvy, sophisticated and positively drop-deadgorgeous, he captures Mo's heart forever with just one steamy, blue-eyed glance. But is this hot Parisian dreamboat looking for a long-term commitment or is he simply passing time Until September?

The late British director Richard Marquand had his share of hits (Eye of the Needle, Return of the Jedi, Jagged Edge), but when he was off his game (Hearts of Fire, The Legacy), he was truly off. The 1984 Until September is one of Marquand's misfires, though it is hardly an embarrassment. A love story about two strong-willed individuals, the film stars Karen Allen as Mo, an American tourist (from that other "Mo," Missouri) stranded in Paris for a few weeks. Crashing in a friend's plush apartment, Mo meets her handsome neighbor, Xavier (Thierry Lhermitte), a married banker whose family awaits him elsewhere on holiday. The two initiate a romance that finds them butting heads twice as often as kissing, with Xavier frequently flogging his overconfidence as a man of the world to a distinctly unimpressed, far from naive Mo. The more Xavier's façade crumbles, the nicer and more real he becomes, until he has to face the fact that his life of marital convenience and mistresses is a charade. As a peek into an affair that blossoms not because of Paris's effect on lovers but because of the gift of honesty, Until September is somewhat unusual. --Tom Keogh

French Romantique film!5
I have seen this movie over hundreds of times! Theirry Lhermitte is an absolutely amazing actor and this film makes you feel good. Karen Allen and Thieirry's chemistry on film is extraordinary. I lived in France and the portrayal of a frenchman is seen through the character of Monsieur LaPareau. I highly recommend this film from the late 80's. You will return to this film time after time. I actually used the line on a man who had Thierry Lhemitte's eyes and it worked--he smiled at me and thanked me!

A great love story5
Why this title is no long in print is beyond me. This is one of the great love stories. It was truly wonderful, with great direction and acting. So much so that you really feel you know the characters...and how often does that happen in a movie now-a-days. Although some may no have liked it due to the sex scene, I think the sex scene was well done and very real. But the best part was when Thierry Lhermitte was trying to find Karen Allen at the airport...I was right on the edge of my seat! I really what them to find each other. If anyone from MGM/UA ever reads this please bring the film out in DVD...PLEASE.

Wonderful, romantic, a movie I continue to watch5
This is my all-time favorite movie. I had first watched it a few years ago, and keep coming back. Thierry Lhermitte and Karen Allen's chemistry is magnetic. The scenes from Paris and the French countryside are so romantic, and this movie could only be set there. Why isn't Thierry in more American movies??
