Charming little movie
I bought this same copy (same company, same cover) for $1.99 in 2007 at Kmart. It is classic black and white, released in 1950, and stars Jimmy Durante, Tom Drake (Meet Me in St Louis) and Terry Moore. I really enjoyed this movie (don't be fooled by the picture), but the sound quality and sometimes the picture was poor. I see no reason to pay $14.98 for this copy, when Amazon sells a restored and colorized version for $9.98 under the name "A Christmas Wish" !
Cute movie but audio track is horrible
This is a cute movie with comical stop motion animation effects of a squirrel, but the audio track on the 2004 Westlake Entertainment Group version (UPC 798622319029) is awful. You have to turn the volume way up and even then it's difficult to hear the dialogue. I see that Gotham Distribution also released a version in 2005, so I'd recommend giving that one a try. Out of the three reviews posted for that version I see no complaints about the audio.
GREAT MOVIE! Terrible transfere and sound!
DO NOT BUY THIS VERSION!
Even if you get it free, even if you only pay a penny for it... the print and audio is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad you will wish you never watched it. This movie is worth a few extra dollars so read on:
You can get a super clean restored version called A Christmas Wish (aka The Great Rupert) (Rupert has several titles in various re-packaging). I believe the 20th Century FOX edition has both the colorized and original B&W with great sound and print.
