The first concert DVD form this incredible live act, captured on stage at JazzFest!
30 years into his career, BeauSoleil’s Michael Doucet is Cajun music to most people. The fiddler, singer and songwriter plays dozens of gigs with BeauSoleil every year, gets massive exposure on NPR—including a long-running relationship with A Prairie Home Companion — and has won a GRAMMY for Best Traditional Folk Album. His band, which mixes traditional Cajun music with folk-rock, zydeco, New Orleans jazz, Tex-Mex, country and blues, is just as accomplished. Despite their success as an album act, they are truly in their element on stage. And there’s no better way to experience them live than at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. This DVD, BeauSoleil’s first, captures the band’s electrifying performance at the 2002 JazzFest and is a must-own for fans of Cajun and roots music.

Beausoleil captured in their prime!
Beausoleil has always been one of my favorite live bands and this DVD highlights some of their very best material in front of a JazzFest audience ready to have a good time. The camera work is especially good and it's nice to have some interview clips interspersed with the live set. The sound is pristine. All these guys are at the top of their game and play so well and make it look so easy. Some of my favorite tunes on here are "La Danse De La Vie," "Newz Reel", and "Poison Love." The extras are great too. Interviews with the band members and music videos which I gotta think are nearly impossible to see elsewhere. All in all an excellent package and a good reason to head out and see Beausoleil the next time they come to your town.
Finally, a Beausoleil DVD
There is no greater band than Beausoleil and no better musician than Michael Doucet in any genre. This DVD is a real treat and I loved the song about Amede Ardoin and Michael telling the audience about him. He always shows how much he cares about the artists who inspired him and I respect him highly for this. The clip of Dennis McGee and Canray Fontenot with Michael and what Canray said made me cry. I can't wait to see Beausoleil live again. Until then I will enjoy this DVD over and over and pray they make many more.
YEAH, You Right!
I agree with everything that Stumpy-LA says (YEAH, you right!). Also, it's neat to see the videos of the three other songs that aren't from Jazz Fest. One looks like mid-80s (when I lived in N'awlins). I think Beausoleil and Michael Doucet have improved with "age" and this DVD proves it.
