Framing hammer
This is a great hammer. The weight is especially comfortable at 21oz. Well balanced and easy to swings. Beats an all steel or fiberglass hammer hands down. Another useful feature is that the claws are straight on this hammer. THis mean you can reach nails that need to be pulled in tight spaces, this flip side of this feature is that you lose a lot of the leverage that you get with curved hammer and it's easier to break the handle. I'd recommend pulling the nail by rocking it sideways rather than pulling straight back on it. My only complaint is in the claws of the hammer. The slot is adequate for pulling 16d nails but there is very little taper to them and nails tend to slip out easier than with other hammers I've owned. I suppose however, that as I gain experience as a carpenter that I will make fewer mistakes and pulling nails won't be as big of an issue.

Almost as pretty as me!
All I can say is things sure have changed. Way back when I was framing, doing layout, setting beams, plumb & line, rolling joists, setting garage door headers, fencing, etc. We didn't have such a beautiful hammer. If you showed up at our jobsites with ANYTHING less than a 28 oz. Vaughan you'd have been sent home, crying, to your mommy. After your spanking of course. This thing is sweet!
