Most ovens these days come with a built-in timer, but not all of them are loud enough to hear from another part of the house. With this portable timer, cooks won’t be bound to the kitchen while brownies bake or a vegetable pot pie cooks. This simple timer has a mechanical pointer that winds around the face to count down anywhere from 1 to 60 minutes. The instrument ticks while in use and, when time is up, it sounds a long (about 5 seconds) and loud ring that can be heard while running the shower or over the noise of the clothes dryer. Cooking aside, this gadget is also great for setting time-outs for toddlers. (When the timer rings, kids can come out of their rooms or chairs.) Doesn't work after a couple of weeks
At first it worked, then it worked intermittently (not a good thing!), and now it just doesn't work at all. No matter where I turn the dial (always past 30 minutes or it won't work), it doesn't budge. Look elsewhere.

The first time a Taylor product has disappointed me.
I bought one that didn't always work, and a replacement one was even less reliable. I upgraded to a higher priced mechanical timer from Taylor and it didn't work at all. What can have happened to Taylor products?!!

Nice size and weight
Slim, sits in cupboard and wastes no space when not in use. Good clear bell can be heard rooms away from kitchen.
