Satisfactory
The spreader came within a few days and was a little tricky to assemble but not too bad. It took me a couple of hours. I had to experiment a bit to assemble the rate control mechanism. I dont know how the directions could have been made clearer though. The spreader worked well enough the first (and only) use thus far. You just have to experiment with the feed rate. Time will tell how rugged the product turns out to be. I bought it to tow behind a mowing attachement on a farm tractor and had to rig up a hitch out far enough out so that it I did not hit the spreader or tend to bend the draw bar in tight turns. I had to string ropes for on/off feed control. It would have been nice if they had given some thought to towing it behind a tractor and offered some kind of kit.
My only negative thus far it that it has some plastic bushings where the axel goes through the frame and apparently around the shaft on the slinger. I'd prefer to have metal bushings. Time will tell. I bought this brand mainly because it has metal gears to drive the slinger. Stainless steel gears would have been better but others have plastic or covered gears so you cant tell. I dont trust plastic gears.
It is not perfect for towing behind a tractor but I can hitch it to the mowing attachment and don't have to fool with removing or putting back a 3-point attachment. That saves a lot or trouble as you know if you use a tractor. Don't let your fertilizer get the slightest amount of moisture or it will not flow down onto the slinger!
