Customer Reviews

This is NOT a show3
The previous reviewer (with all of his reviews saying either the word "rules" or "great" and ending most likely with "it's a must see!" cannot but make me wonder if that's not an Amazon employee trying to "plug" items that don't sell much OR that are not yet released... anyway...) made a connection with Paul McCartney and the last show he gave in Florida, and then adds: must see... that is very misleading. It looks like it will be a show, if I understand where the reviewer is going, however, this DVD is not a show! It's interviews and pictures... I do not think one should base his/her opinion and decision to buy that DVD solely on the fact that one reviewer said his last show in Florida was great and that we must see this DVD. There is no connection whatsoever. But if you like documentaries *unauthorized*, then go ahead and buy it... But don't expect a show (In Florida, or anywhere else in that matter). For that, I strongly recommend the show in Russia!

Real Crappy1
I'm a huge Beatles, McCartney fan and this DVD is an insult. The production is horrific with strange music playing in the background and the qulaity is just downright poor. If you only heard of McCartney but not know anything about him, this DVD just says, "born in Liverpool, played with the Beatles, got married, busted for drugs, end of story". Once again, buyer beware. Now, how do I get rid of this crap?

Does Not Paint the Town Red2
I was disappointed in this dvd for the reasons other reviewers have given. Instead of focussing on Paul McCartney's extraordinary career as a musician, artist/painter and entertainer, this appears to be just a rehashing of basic facts. I guess you could call it a Dick & Jane version of a Paul McCartney dvd.

I'm a huge, inveterate (and some say intense) Beatles fan, McCartney fan, Harrison fan. I admit that. The music in this one was highly disappointing because it was not Beatles; it was just some unidentifiable tune that seemed irrelevant to the subject matter at hand - Paul McCartney's musical career.

I would have hoped for and certainly expected much better than this. However, the instrumental Beatle music helped "remind" viewers that we were in fact watching a former Beatle and one who has embraced his Beatle roots, which were ultimately what catapulted him into being a household name.

I would also have hoped that this would not peter out in 1984 at the "Give My Regards to Broad Street" premiere. Paul McCartney's work has taken him much further down that Long & Winding Road that has led him to the life he is enjoying today.

Buy "Live in Red Square" instead. That, on the other hand is an excellent dvd of an equally excellent, nonpareil concert.
