Customer Reviews

Terrible DVD burner, CD drive, all around worst drive I've ever had1
Do not waste your money on this drive or any MicroAdvantage products, they are problems right out of the box. I had nothing but problems since day 1, would not eject except after pressing eject button at least 10 times, would always fail on burning CD's and DVD's, even at the slowest burn settings, tried just about everything to give it the benifit of the doubt but it just failed all around.

A good product, good price, solid value5
I have had this product for over a year now, and it has been a decent burning device for me. The world of "DVD Back ups" is pretty much over since most new DVDs have a pretty good write protect on them, so investing in an expensive DVD burner just wasn't worth it for me. If you are a modest use, potentially trasfering a few home videos to DVD or storing data, you might as well get this drive and save a few pennies. I got mine for and unbelievable $30 at one of the chain office supply stores on sale, but amazon here is competative to regular prices or below. I do have one minor complaint about this drive, ocassionally when you press the open button, the eject is delayed. If your impatient like i can be, I'll hit it a couple of times and it will open partially then shut again.

Let the buyer beware (of cheap merchandise)1
The term "planned obsoleteness" comes to mind when describing this product. Mine worked great for about a year, but after that I began getting a myriad of burning and other hardware errors whenever burning CD's or DVD's. A word of advice to anyone considering this burner - invest in a drive that will last as long as your computer, and wont turn that bundle of expensive blank DVD's into a bundle of coasters.

and btw, the Micro Advantage company is now defunct.
